HOW TO PLAY
Anyone reads.
The card says who joins.
Choose one birthday person and open the seven-card conversation or a chapter. Everyone else is a guest. One Voice is for the birthday person, Round invites everyone, and Open invites guests. Follow any setup printed on the card before its task.
- 01
Choose who you are celebrating
Choose one birthday person for this conversation. Anyone can read the card and its guidance aloud. Reading does not decide whose turn it is; the role on the card does.
- 02
Follow the card’s role
One Voice: the birthday person answers or passes. Round: invite everyone once, including the birthday person. Open: guests contribute; the birthday person may listen or join. With two people, one guest fills the guest role.
- 03
Stay for the interesting part
Respond to a story, add a detail or keep a different version. Each task names its finish. Tap Next when you are ready; anyone can pass, pause, change chapters or finish. A wish or invented outing stays an idea.
The chooser is on the card
On a One Voice choice, the birthday person decides silently, then says their choice or passes; guests listen and respond. On a Round choice, everyone decides about their own answer and reveals together on three. No private taps.
Describe it, in your own voice
Explain a hobby to an alien, invent a sitcom entrance or describe a ridiculous present. Follow the card’s role and its finish. A normal voice is enough; an imagined example is welcome. Keep guest humour affectionate.
Make a small thing together
Follow the setup first, then guests offer ideas. Combine the number of details or words the card asks for. The birthday person can contribute, change a detail or listen. With one guest, that guest may offer both ideas.
Let the birthday person set the mood
A tiny incident, a detail noticed today or a completely invented scene can be enough. Ask before retelling something personal. The birthday person can receive a guest contribution without agreeing, explaining or making a future plan.
Big enough to read. Small enough to bring.
What episode from your past year would make the funniest opening scene of a sitcom?
Read aloud. Birthday person answers or passes.Stories, choices and guest inventions happen aloud. The role stays the same on separate phones: birthday person, everyone or guests. Anyone may pass; the device need not be handed around.
